HOW SAFE IS BONZA DOG FOOD?

Because the health of your dog is our priority we place utmost emphasis on ensuring the quality of the food we produce for them.

Other than knowing that the food you are feeding your dog is complete and balanced, and that at a minimum it provides them with all the nutrients they require to survive, the most important aspect is knowing that their food has been produced with diligence to standards necessary to ensure it is safe and non-toxic for your dog.

We are extremely proud that our manufacturing partners for Bonza vegan dog food meet the requirements of the IFS Food Version 7 certification with their most recent audit and certification awarded on 2nd June 2022. This certification is also applicable to human food manufacturing.

The International Featured Standard (IFS) is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarked standard for manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, agents and brokers. IFS addresses food safety and management of product quality in: Food and ingredient manufacturing.

What is involved?

IFS Food version 7 covers six primary areas of the business, and all are considered key to establishing effective processes that guarantee the safety and quality of the products.

• Governance and Commitment – review of the commitment of senior management to support the sustainability of the food safety culture and quality assurance policy.
• Food Safety and Quality Management System – required to meet legal and food safety requirements as well as customer specifications.
• Resource Management – management of human resources, working conditions, hygiene, and sanitation to ensure product safety.
• Operational Processes – production of safe, quality products according to customer specifications.
• Measurements, Analysis and Improvements – inspections, process validation, and management of complaints and corrective actions.
• Food Defence Plan – protection of the integrity of the company and products produced.

Our manufacturing partners have the following processes in place to ensure the safety of the Bonza vegan dog food you choose for your dog.Every ingredient is quality tested on arrival at the factory.

• Every ingredient is quality tested in the laboratory when it is received.  In case of any non-conformity against HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), the raw material is returned to the supplier.
• The food is then produced using the raw materials which are are automatically dosed, mixed and ground based on the Bonza recipe which was formulated by Veterinary Nutritionists and cooked using cold extrusion at 70C or less, preserving vital nutrients.
• When the cooking is complete the food passes through a metal detector to eliminate the possibility of any metal fragments and then passed through to the packaging department for final packaging and palletisation.
• Random samples are taken from the packaging line and tested to ensure they meet the recipe Control Plan requirements.
• Our food is cooked in small batches to ensure your dog's food is as fresh as possible when it is delivered to your home.
