Primary ingredients in Bonza providing this anti-inflammatory activity are oats and quinoa.
Offering synergistic support for these primary anti-inflammatories are our inflammation reducing herbs, botanicals, oils and supplements - turmeric, ginger, chamomile, echinacea, Reishi mushroom, Siberian ginseng, MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane), Glucosamine, pineapple, baobab, parsley, sage, rosemary, rapeseed oil, coconut oil, olive oil extract, kale, spinach, seaweed, seaweed oil extract and cranberries.
By most estimates, 20% of all dogs (regardless of age) are affected by osteoarthritis (OA), making it the most common chronic disease they face. Unfortunately OA is not reversible so pain management becomes very important for your dog's comfort and function.
Research shows that a number of herbs have a positive effect on the inflammation and pain associated with osteoarthritis. These include Boswellia, turmeric, Eremostachys laciniata, Eucommia ulmoides, chamomile, Ashwagandha and ginger. (6)

In addition to seaweed, Bonza’s plant-based food includes Echinacea, Sage and Chamomile which all have a positive effect on your dog’s oral and dental health and are particularly effective against gingivitis and periodontal disease which also contribute to dog’s bad breath (2, 4).
Echinacea is used to treat inflammation including the gingival tissues in the mouth. It was found in research to be as effective as Chlorhexidine Mouthwash in reducing oral microbial flora (3)
To support your dog's gut health and digestive system Bonza includes a blend prebiotic fibres - yucca schidigera extract and baobab fruit powder (research has shown baobab to be more effective at modulating the gut microbiota than the 'gold standard', inulin), chickpeas, fava beans, peas, oats and, cranberries - understood to 'feed' your dog's good intestinal bacteria improving the health and diversity of their gut bacteria, in turn supporting their overall health and wellbeing.
Our probiotic, the highly stable, robust and compatible Calsporin® - Bacillus subtilis C-3102, provides a daily boost to your dogs' immune system and improves faecal quality, enhanced fat and carbohydrate digestibility, and contributes to the gut health of dogs by reducing gut ammonia and increasing SCFA (short chain fatty acid) content. (5, 6) SCFA's (short chain fatty acid) are known to be beneficial for the microbiome and gut health.
Prebiotics work in harmony with probiotics to support healthy guts and good digestion. This in turn supports the immune system and general health. The combination of prebiotics and probiotics, called synbiotics, are more effective in delivering health outcomes for your dog.

Antimicrobial herbs may be used when the cause of a digestive upset is microbial, either bacterial or viral. Many herbs have broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity; favourites for intestinal conditions include chamomile and echinacea.
Anthelmintic herbs such as chamomile, turmeric and ginger, are used to destroy and expel parasitic worms from the gastrointestinal tract. Anthelmintic is used against roundworms, tapeworms and flukes. Infection by these worms can cause significant health problems for your dog.
