HOW MUCH SHOULD I FEED MY DOG?

If you have joined Bonza on a personalised meal plan for your dog you will have answered some questions that allows us to calculate how much you should be feeding your dog each day to keep them in peak physical condition based on their age, activity levels, weight management and whether they are spayed, neutered or not.

If not, you will find a handy calculation tool on our Shop/Product page - all you have to do is add your dog’s weight and it will estimate how many calories they need daily and much Bonza you should feed them.

It is not as accurate as our personalised meal plan calculation because it doesn’t consider your dog’s breed, age, sexual intactness or activity levels, all of which affect their daily calorie requirements, but it is a handy starting point and far more accurate than the range of feeding amounts usually provided.

Dog obesity is on the rise and with it comes all the chronic conditions associated with being overweight – joint and mobility issues, osteoarthritis, diabetes and cancers. We believe it is very important to provide as accurate a daily calorie requirement and feeding amount to reduce the potential for these issues to afflict our dogs.

We highly recommend using scales to weigh your dog’s food. Research shows that simply filling a measuring cup to the same level can under or overestimate your dog’s food by as much as 30% - both of which can have significant effects on their health.
